“Photographer Gjon Mili visited Picasso at his studio in 1949. Mili showed the artist some of his photographs of ice skaters with tiny lights affixed to their skates jumping in the darkāand Picasso’s mind began to race. The series of photographs that follows were made with a small flashlight in a dark room; the images vanished almost as soon as they were created.”

Anger created this fantastical short film for the fashion house Missoni. He always succeeds in combining mysticism, psychedelia and pop inspired visual icons to create something that pretty much transcends any concept of an era or time. Some of my favorite stills after the jump.
